Lord Runciman and Family

Lord and Lady Runciman with their daughters on the steps of the lodge in the late 1920s. They have been identified by Garry Runciman left to right as follows: • Katherine (“Kitty”), subsequently Lady Farrer, subsequently Lady Lyell • Hilda, Viscountess Runciman (nee Stevenson) • Margaret (“Margie”) Runciman, subsequently King-Farlow, subsequently Fairweather (killed in 1944 as a ferry pilot for the Air Transport Auxilliary) • Walter Runciman, M.P., later 1st Viscount • Ruth Runciman, subsequently Holmden, subsequently Bovill • Miss Hilda Lindsay (known as Lindo) who was Hilda’s personal secretary for many years. On her retirement she lived in the cottage above the pier for a time.
