If your summer getaway finds you staying on one of the Small Isles (Eigg, Muck, Rum or Canna) then how about taking a day trip to visit one of the other islands whilst you are here? It's the perfect way to experience a new island and support our small communities at the same time. There are several MV Sheerwater crossings each week connecting Eigg and Muck and additional sailings connecting Eigg, Rum and Canna on Sundays through the summer months. The MV Sheerwater sails from Arisaig Marine and also offers a regular passenger service from Arisaig to Eigg and Muck.
Eigg - Muck
Take a leisurely 30 min boat ride with the opportunity to enjoy marine wildlife on the way. From April to September, Wednesdays and Saturdays are your golden tickets to hop aboard the MV Sheerwater and sail to Muck. If you are visiting during June, July, or August, there's an extra sailing on Mondays, ensuring plenty of chances to visit.
Once you set foot on Muck, you'll have three hours to immerse yourself in its wonders. Treat your taste buds to a tantalising lobster roll from Muck Tearoom, then, why not wander over to Gallanach Beach for a delightful picnic or just head out for a wander and soak in the island's natural beauty.
Eigg - Rum
If you are staying on Eigg over summer, then it's possible to visit the Isle of Rum with Arisaig Marine on the following dates (highlighted in green):
Enjoy breathtaking scenery and the opportunity to spot eagles overhead on this 1hr boat trip. When you disembark you will have 4 hrs to explore Rum's gems allowing you enough time for activities including: visiting the Otter Hide, hiking the Northside Circular Nature Trail, wandering around the village taking in the atmosphere and visiting the craft shop and Rum shop for hot and cold treats or dropping by Rum Visitor Centre to learn more about the island.
Rum - Canna
If you are staying on Rum over the summer, then you have the chance to join Arisaig Marine on the following dates for a day trip to Canna (highlighted in green):
This trip sails around the west stacks and Canna jail. You can then disembark and spend a couple of hours exploring Canna's charms or indulge yourself with a mouthwatering meal at the renowned Cafe Canna (*booking strongly recommended).Â
PLEASE NOTE: All MV Sheerwater sailings require a minimum of 15 passengers in order to operate.
